Advocacy

The Madison Area Builders Association focuses on three key priorities:

The Association encourages municipalities to implement Tax Incremental Financing (TIF) policies that enable challenged areas to thrive. An innovative and flexible TIF policy results in an increased tax base, infrastructure improvements, and development in areas that would have otherwise not occurred.

Our region can and should grow responsibly. The Madison Area Builders Association opposes restrictive limits on development, including impact fees and mandated growth boundaries. Burdensome regulations prevent the delivery of affordable housing to all income levels. We work to ensure an adequate supply of developable land is available in order to provide a wide variety of housing options to accommodate population growth.

Consumer preferences drive housing demand across a variety of municipalities and local government units. Significant differences in zoning, permit standards and fees increase costs and add confusion. Establishing uniform standards and policies among governmental units will increase affordability.
