History

The National Association of Real Estate Boards (NAREB) formed a builder division in 1923. In 1942, NAREB’s builder division, known as the Home Builders Institute, became an independent organization and changed its name to the National Association of Home Builders of the United States. Both the Wisconsin Builders Association and the Madison Area Builders Association were chartered with NAHB in 1947.
